The Portal of Initiation, Steiners first Mystery Drama, is central to his creative work. It express fundamentals of his science of the Spirit, or Anthroposophy, in an art form. Also contained is Thomas Carlyle's translation of Goethe's famous Fairy Tale of the Green Snakes and the Beautiful Lily, and Steiner's commentary on it, titled The Nature of Goethe's Spirit. Illustrated with a large photo plate section from Goetheanum performances of the drama, and a facsimile page of Steiner's handwriting of this work.'
